In an effort to start the year off on a promising note, i've been throwing myself into anything written. I'm talking books, mags, newspapers galore. Through my new habit, i've stumbled upon some amaze reads that everybody needs to be up on. Read on below.
1. A$AP Rocky Fever.
I've been A$AP Rocky obsessed since he released his album this week. Lately anyone and everyone has been noticing A$AP's rising prominence as a style mogul. The Times' article touches on his fave brands as well as some of his favorite places to shop, including OAK NYC, one of my favorite shopping spots. Complex's touches on allll of the brands A$AP includes in LONG. LIVE. A$AP. With 30+, most of them mentioned on 'Fashion Killa', all of the greats are included.
2. Inside Scoop on J.Crew's Prez.
This Sunday, Jenna Lyons, aka head honcho over at J.Crew, was featured in a huge article that dominated the front page of the Times' Style section. Including all of the questions you always wanted to ask, but you know, you just couldn't, this article is literally something you must read. For the past few years J.Crew has been considered as one of the fashion world's many darlings, and Jenna has a lot to do with that. Topics discussed include her nasty Page Six chronicled divorce, the Les-Be-Honest rumors and all of the deets on how she became Mrs. J.Crew.
3. Girls, meet Rap.
Last week Girls made its season 2 debut, and even though I was over in LA starring in my own version of Tupac's California Love, me and my friend made sure to tune in. After some Donald Glover x Hannah lovin' (wasn't at all enthused) and some Marnie x Elijah craziness (just ew), I had the same Girls fever that I experienced after the series premiere last year. Enter this week, when I headed over to Swagger NY. There I found a quiz that is everything, titled 'Rap Lyric or HBO "Girls" Quote?'. You would think it would be super easy, but due to Hannah's and co.'s colorful quotables, I was stumped when it came to a quote that could've been either Lauren Hill or Marnie.
4. FLOTUS and Inaug 2013.
Today brought us #inaug2013, and more importantly fashion fodder via FLOTUS, better known as Michelle Obama. This year, she chose a gorgeous coat/dress combo from a newcomer to the game, Thom Browne. She added on a bejeweled J.Crew belt and some heels also from the Obama family favorite. Two things I'm certain of: That look, was flawless, and Thom Browne is about to become an overnight fashion heavyweight.
5. 10 Things via The Ladies of Of a Kind.
Okay, so sadly this one I can't link (sign up for the Of a Kind newsletter for the next installment!). My bosses Erica and Claire (who seriously happen to be the best), have started doing these '10 Things' lists that highlight everything that they're into at the moment. I'm such a fan of lists, and each of the items on these are things that I didn't know I needed to know about, but definitely do. These lists totally aid in my "reading resolution" and help to keep me in the know.
